The 33rd Serb Fest closed in Chicago, a three-day event that this year again attracted more than ten thousand people from the entire Serbian diaspora, with a special focus on communities in Canada and the USA. The festival was held in the courtyard of the of the Holy Resurrection Cathedral.
The Serbian community in Canada numbers almost 100,000 people, while the Serbian Orthodox Church brings together 37 parishes that nurture the language, faith and customs every day. Serb Fest is an important gathering for the entire diaspora, a place where our people from Canada and America meet.
This festival, held for the 33rd time since its founding in 1990, when it began as a modest attempt to preserve and nurture Serbian culture, is today one of the largest events of the Serbian community in North America.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Finance provide necessary funding each year to support Serb Fest, as the most significant gathering of the Serbian diaspora in Canada. In addition, embassies, cultural centers and state media play an important role in promoting and organizing this event.
