Prosvjeta’s network of Serbian supplementary schools throughout Austria – in Vienna, Graz, Linz, Salzburg, Enns, where this year’s classes are ending, celebrated Djetinjci, Saint Nicholas, and started preparations for the New Year and Christmas holidays.
– The most active and cheerful were Prosvjeta’s youngest students, children attending preparatory classes – Mala pričaonica, intended specifically for preschoolers, where the Serbian language and everything else of importance is mastered through play, song, in a creative and fun way – announced the Serbian educational and cultural society Prosvjeta Austria.
Srđan Mijalković expressed his satisfaction at the continuation of this beautiful tradition and pointed out that he was proud of the fact that almost a thousand students throughout Austria were attending almost thirty schools.
He said that preparations were underway for the establishment of new schools the following year.
– The needs of our people and our children here are even greater, there are many of us, so efforts must be continued for new schools and even more children – noted Mijalković.
He also highlighted the support of friends, especially the Serbian Orthodox Church, as well as the Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region headed by Arnaud Gouillon.
– These days we are expecting new books, which were donated to us by the Directorate – said Mijalković.
He invited all friends and citizens to Prosvjeta’s jubilee 10th Serbian New Year’s concert in Vienna on the evening of 14 January in the hall on Karl Borromäus Square in Vienna’s third district.
– The program will include Serbian court music, and the guests will be our great music artists – emphasized Mijalković.
