The St Sava Academy to be held in Skopje on 27 January will mark the national day of the Serbian community in North Macedonia, thus demonstrating the unity of the Serbian people wherever they live, said Ivan Stoilković, president of the Organizing Committee for holding of the St Sava festivities.
Officials from North Macedonia, Serbia, Republic of Srpska and Montenegro will attend the Academy.
Stoilković, who is the president of the Democratic Party of Serbs in North Macedonia and a member of the Macedonian parliament, said that this year the academy would be held traditionally in the Macedonian National Theater, and host the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, who will also be the patron of the academy for the sixth consecutive time.
According to him, the President and the Prime Minister, Stevo Pendarovski and Dimitar Kovačevski, will attend from North Macedonia.
Stoilković said that the celebration would be organized again this year, the 17th time since Saint Sava Day was established as a national holiday of Serbs in Macedonia.
– An impressive gathering demonstrating what we are trying to demonstrate everyone, which is the unity of the Serbian people, that is, the unity of the Serbian people translated into mutual communication, first of all, and then into political support for Serbia, the Republic of Srpska, the entire Serbian people, wherever they live, and most importantly to the brothers in Kosovo and Metohija – he said.
He noted that a program entitled St Sava Week was established this year, to include a series of activities related to four St Sava academies in four North Macedonian cities – Kumanovo, Skopje, Tetovo and Bitola, and visits to elementary schools, distribution of packets etc.
The Saint Sava Days event in North Macedonia starts tomorrow and will last until the beginning of next week. The central ceremony will take place on 27 January in Skopje, and the final day will be 4 February in Bitola.
