We are working with great dedication on improving the business environment and introducing internationally recognized standards of efficient and transparent local administration, said the Mayor of Laktaši, Miroslav Bojić.
GLAS: Last year, the Financial Times magazine’ declared Laktaši again the most desirable small town for investment in Europe? Why is that?
BOJIĆ: It is a great honor for us to be declared the most desirable micro-small town in Europe for investment for the third time. This assesses the parameters of city administration, resolving regulatory plans, building permits, councils for the economy, as well as business zone locations. In addition, there is also electricity price up to workforce quality. This also imposes an obligation on us to be even better, and the economy is booming, and I am certain that in the whole of BiH, we are currently the city investing the most in the development of the economy.
GLAS: When considering business zones at investment forums in our country, Laktaši is mentioned near the very top, . To what extent does that facilitate finding employment?
BOJIĆ: The development of the economy also contributes to erecting new buildings and better competitiveness for job seekers. Personal income level is growing, employers are ready to increase wages, we have several large companies that have already done so. The working conditions are good, according to our data, we generate the highest per capita income of the economy in BiH, and last year we had more than BAM 300 million of investments in the economic sector.
GLAS: What does Laktaši need the most?
BOJIĆ: The citizens demand additional infrastructure the most and that is our primary goal. We have developed a network of public and private kindergartens, thus reaching a satisfactory condition, but there are still capacities lacking. Most importantly, we are working on expanding local roads, to start a road from the Mahovljani interchange toward the airport. We hope to start these enterprises as soon as possible, and we believe that assistance from the institutions will not be lacking.
Administration
GLAS: Regarding the number of city administration staff, you have exactly as many employees as prescribed by the Law on Local Self-Government?
BOJIĆ: We are keeping account. We only hire the staff that are necessary, we only fill the vacancies created by retiring. We are a service to the citizens, we strive to be transparent, not only regarding the city administration, but also public institutions and state-owned enterprises. Furthermore, we also work on personal income levels in order to retain them and to keep them satisfied.
