Minister without portfolio in charge of the diaspora Đorđe Milićević spoke today with the Minister of European Integration and International Cooperation of the Republic of Srpska Zlatan Klokić about the results achieved after the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation at the Pan-Serbian Assembly.
As stated by the Serbian Government, Milićević and Klokić noted the importance of this document, which enabled defining common interests and intensifying activities aimed at preserving the national unity and cultural identity of the Serbian people.
Klokić said that the two ministries had marked together all significant dates for the Serbian people, and that they were present at many events organized by the Serbian community abroad.
Noting that they had organized camps for children from the Republic of Srpska and Serbia, Klokić said that these gatherings, such as sports activities and visits to historical destinations in Vrnjačka Banja and Trebinje, had left a lasting impression on the youngest.
- The Republic of Serbia and Republic of Srpska are working together to strengthen ties through joint activities that know no borders regarding the well-being of our people. I am especially proud of the projects that involve children – the youngest are our future, and they best strengthen our common values and cultural heritage – said Milićević.
Today’s meeting also agreed future activities, which will include support for supplementary Serbian language schools abroad, and this support will cover procurement of school supplies, equipment and textbooks, in cooperation with Serbian associations in the diaspora.
The meeting was also an opportunity to summarize cooperation results and to set ambitious plans for the future.
Milićević said that more than 6,500 children from Serbia, the Republic of Srpska, the region and the diaspora had participated in projects jointly implemented by Serbia and the Republic of Srpska.
- These projects are much more than statistics – they are a way to connect, preserve our heritage and build the future. Together, Serbia and the Republic of Srpska demonstrate the power of unity and cooperation, which is the foundation of our people – said Milićević.
During the Pan-Serbian Assembly held in Belgrade on 8 June 2024, ministers Milićević and Klokić signed the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Government of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of Srpska to strengthen the ties of Serbian diaspora members with the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Srpska.
