The meeting between the director general of the University Clinical Center of the Republic of Srpska (UCC RS), Vlado Đajić, and doctor of the AKH clinic in Vienna, Peter Frigo, agreed on continuing the cooperation between the two health institutions, and education of doctors from Banja Luka in Austria to continue in September.

The meeting was attended by the head of the Republic of Srpska Representative Office in Austria, Mladen Filipović, and Banja Luka doctor Boris Goronja, who is employed at the AKH clinic, and the interlocutors expressed hope that cooperation with the AKH University Clinic would return to the pre-coronavirus pandemic level.

Medical training of UCC staff started in February 2018 with the support of the Republic of Srpska Representation in Austria, comprising two doctors from this institution going for a one-month training in Vienna every month, and resulting in more than 40 UCC doctors completing this education so far.

Education and knowledge exchange between UCC and AKH has contributed to the development of UCC through the introduction of new therapeutic and diagnostic methods, and new health services planned for introduction in UCC RS.

Dr Peter Frigo, a gynecology specialist and endocrinology subspecialist at the AKH Clinic, said the two centers had also started a science program, to be followed by joint international studies.

Dr Frigo, who is also a professor at the Medical University of Vienna, was awarded a recognition of the Association of Serbian Clubs in Vienna for supporting the Serbian community in Austria.
