A delegation of the Republic of Srpska Representative Office in Serbia, led by Mlađen Cicović, the head of the Representation, visited today the municipality of Šid and libraries in Višnjićevo and Šid and delivered books by authors and publishers from the Republic of Srpska.

The delegation of the Representation was welcomed in Višnjićevo by Tihomir Stamenković, the president of Šid Municipal Assembly, and Gordana Škorić, the president of the women’s association Filip Višnjić. After the delivery of the books, the guests visited the monument to ‘Serbian Homer’ and ethno exhibition which includes the library that received the books from the Republic of Srpska today.

The visit to the municipality of Šid started in the library Simeon Piščević, which also received books from the Republic of Srpska, and continued with a reception in the office of the president of the municipality, Zoran Semenović.

The head of the Republic of Srpska Representation in Serbia, Mlađen Cicović, stated that cooperation between Serbia and Srpska had never been better than in the last eight years, which was a guarantee that the future of Serbia and Srpska was moving in the right direction.

After the meeting with the president of Šid municipality, Zoran Semenović, he emphasized that cooperation with everyone in the region was exceptionally important for Srpska and Serbia, and that this would remain one of the primary tasks of the Representation.

Cicović noted that he was exceptionally satisfied for being in a position today to talk with Šid leadership, first of all, about the cooperation of the Representation and the municipality of Šid, but also about the cooperation of Šid with municipalities and cities in the Republic of Srpska.

“Apart from presenting and promoting the Republic of Srpska, nurturing and developing cooperation between Srpska and Serbia in all areas, there is nothing more imperative or important than connecting cities, municipalities and people as well as possible,” Cicović emphasized.

He pointed out that without cooperation from both sides of the Drina, the future would not be as certain as expected.

“And when we do what this mission is, when we preserve our culture, tradition, our customs, what constitutes economic cooperation will certainly be at a level that will secure our future,” said Cicović.

Semenović emphasized his great pleasure for hosting the delegation of the Republic of Srpska Representation in Serbia today, assessing it as a big step in merging, that is, fraternizing the people separated by the Drina, i.e. the Sava.

“In addition to building roads, Rača-Kuzmin-Bijeljina, it is important that we unite also in the field of culture, that cooperation between the municipality of Šid, i.e. Serbia and Republic of Srpska, reaches a higher level, and the municipality of Šid is the one that can offer a lot. I think that this is the beginning of a cooperation and that in the coming period we would strengthen our ties and offer each other a hand of friendship,” said Semenović.

The delegation of the Republic of Srpska Representation in Serbia ended its stay in Šid with a visit to the Sava Šumanović gallery and the Ilijanum gallery of naive art.

The head of the Representation donated 350 books by publishers from the Republic of Srpska to Šid library and 300 to Višnjićevo library, and discussion concerned and indicated the good will to start a longer-term cooperation, and that prominent writers, poets and artists from Srpska visit the library and Šid in the coming period.
