At its latest session, the Government of the Republic of Srpska passed the Decree on the establishment and keeping of the Diaspora Register.
The registration has already started, and passing of the Decree was a necessary step to register our diaspora and plan adequate cooperation accordingly, notes the Minister of European Integration and International Cooperation in the Government of Srpska, Zlatan Klokić.
Srpska also now has a diaspora register, which, according to demographers, is a very useful move.
The first step has already been made at the session of the Government of Srpska this week by passing of the Decree on the establishment and keeping of the Diaspora Register. Srpska will thus obtain more precise data on the number of emigrants, the structure and qualifications of members of the diaspora. Among others, minister Zlatan Klokić says that cooperation with the diaspora is of great importance for RS institutions.
The registration has already started. Klokić invited the citizens in the diaspora to visit the website for the diaspora and to fill in the appropriate form and register. He announced also a forthcoming promotional campaign in cooperation with our representative offices abroad aimed at acquainting as many citizens as possible with this initiative and encouraging them to join the Register.
Prnjavor is certainly one of the leading local communities by number of emigrants living and working abroad, and this is best seen during the period of holidays and vacations, when the diaspora mainly comes to their homeland to spend free time with their loved ones.
In addition to Prnjavor, there are also Bijeljina, Lopare, Istočno Novo Sarajevo, Gradiška, as well as many other local communities that have a large outflow of population to Western European countries. Therefore, the line ministry will send a letter to local self-government units inviting them to achieve even better communication with the diaspora, in cooperation with the competent authorities, concludes Klokić.
