Minister of European Integration and International Cooperation Zlatan Klokić said that Hungary’s support was of great importance for the Republic of Srpska, and that two-day visit by Srpska’s President, Milorad Dodik, was a continuation of friendly relations between the two countries.

Klokić stated that Hungarian officials always emphasized their understanding and respect of the position and views of the Republic of Srpska regarding the situation in BiH.

– Therefore, their support, headed by the Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orbán, is of great importance for Srpska and the politics led by our representatives – said Klokić and noted that excellent cooperation in several fields was an indicator of those good relations.

Klokić said that Dodik was welcomed with great respect in Hungary also at the Serbian Days event, which showed that he was always with his people, wherever it lived.

– This also shows care for those who know how important it is to preserve national identity, and I am certain that President Orbán also cultivates this policy – said Klokić.

He also noted that Orbán was a welcome guest in Banja Luka, as was the Hungarian Foreign Minister, Peter Szijjártó.

In addition to the political support, Klokić also highlighted the economic support provided by Hungary to the Republic of Srpska, seen in the support to farmers within the project of machinery and equipment co-financing with 70 percent grant funding, without any conditions or coercion.

He believes that Hungarian support may be expected also in other fields in the Republic of Srpska.

– Meetings of the officials of the two countries highlighted Hungary’s interest in investments in the field of energy, and two governments signed a cooperation agreement in order to improve and encourage Hungarian investments in various fields in Srpska – said Klokić.

The President of the Republic of Srpska, Milorad Dodik, was on a two-day visit to Hungary, where he met with His Eminence Bishop Lukijan of Buda in Tekelianum in Budapest, and after that opened Serbian Days in Budapest.

Dodik had a meeting and working lunch with the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán at the Carmelite Monastery in Buda.
