Another school year, filled with various activities until the very end, has ended in satisfaction with students’ achievements, collaboration with parents, the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia, the Serbian Orthodox Church and numerous associations.
The first online meeting of students of supplementary classes in Serbian from Kranj and students of Sveti Sava Elementary School from Bijeljina was held within the Identity Serbia project. The motto of the meeting was ‘Get to know me to understand me’.
We can also boast of visiting various cultural events, as well as participating in some of them. The students attending supplementary classes at Martin Krpan Elementary School, Ljubljana, recited verses of the contemporary Serbian poetess Dragana Mladenović at the celebration of the fortieth anniversary of the founding of their school. The students from Ljubljana participated in the celebration of the Day of Serbian-Slovenian Friendship, organized by the Mihajlo Pupin cultural society, they made drawings about the friendship of the two peoples and friendship in general and prepared several performances for the event.
The minister in charge of the diaspora, Đorđe Milićević, brought 350 primers to Ljubljana at the initiative of the Association of Serbs of Slovenia. Some primers were distributed immediately, and we will use the rest to delight our new first-graders in September. A library of the Serbian supplementary school has been established in Koper.
After the end of the school year, improving the Serbian language and deepening the knowledge about Serbian culture and tradition continue in summer camps, through various language, creative, sports and performance activities. There were thirty-nine children at the Summer in Tršić language camp, thirty-two of them from Slovenia. Our students had the opportunity to spend time with children from Italy, France, Greece, Spain and Australia. Language, folklore, music and drama workshops were organized during the day, followed by sports and recreational activities and parties. They visited Vuk’s house, Banja Koviljača, Sunčana Reka ethno-village, Tronoša monastery.
