The Serbian Diaspora Library based in Belgrade is a project of the association Diaspora for Motherland Fund, supported by the Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The project was conceived as part of the wider mission of establishing a central diaspora library to be a unique cultural institution in the Republic of Serbia, with the aim of connecting the motherland and the diaspora. The library’s book collection will consist of works by authors from the Serbian diaspora and works about the Serbian diaspora published in the diaspora or in the motherland. The library will operate under the auspices of the association Diaspora for Motherland Fund.

The process is ongoing of creating a digital database of books, which will represent the library’s collection, and your support is important to us in this.

If you are a publisher, bookshop, book lover and you own or are familiar with the editions that you think would be worth a place in the library, please fill out the form and thus contribute to introducing us to the works of interest.

The association Diaspora for Motherland Fund will work on book purchase and acquisition, and for these purposes we will contact the person specified in the form. Thank you for providing as detailed information as possible. If, however, you just want to share information about a book, that is also welcome.

We believe that the diaspora library will become a focal point, an intersection and a unique centre of incomparable and immeasurable contribution to preserving and strengthening the ties between the motherland and the diaspora through the preservation and nurturing of Serbian cultural, ethnic, linguistic and religious identity.

Library use will be available to all interested persons, citizens, students, researchers, associations, institutions and companies, thus introducing them to a wide range of diaspora creativity and producing various forms of engagement, research and initiatives.

In accordance with its statute, the Diaspora for the Motherland Fund association has invested over 10 million euros in the reconstruction and development of Serbia, Montenegro and the Republic of Srpska and continues its humanitarian activities even in contemporary conditions. In addition to the humanitarian activities, the Fund also invests in projects of importance for the preservation of Serbian national, cultural and spiritual identity, subject to funds availability.
