Mladen Filipović, the head of the Republic of Srpska Representative Office in Austria, points out that there is a great interest in organic products from the Republic of Srpska at the Austrian market.

Furthermore, according to him, it means a lot to our citizens living in Austria, that they have access to domestic products in that country. As he explains, in addition to quality and consumer habits, an important segment is brand’s emotional value.

‘In conversations with our citizens, I often hear that the availability of their favorite food brands from the Republic of Srpska, Serbia and the rest of the region means a lot to them. Austrian retail chains are also aware of this fact. We should not forget the statistics or how many citizens from our region live and work in Austria’, emphasizes Filipović.

He adds that it is safe to say that the availability of our products brings multiple benefits both for our citizens and for Austrian retail chains.

‘The strategy for promoting Srpska’s tourism capacities identified the potential to promote domestic, organic products, for which there is great interest at the Austrian market. We are planning to present a promotion concept in Vienna based on the model of Krajina and Herzegovina House. In this way, we would create the conditions for our small and medium-sized agricultural producers to gain access to the Austrian market, where there is significant interest in organic products, and we are currently analyzing information about the requirements for entering this market’, says Filipović.

When asked about the performance of RS products on the shelves of Austrian sales facilities, he emphasizes that interest is the greatest in products of the metal, wood and processing industries.

‘Regarding sale of food products from the Republic of Srpska, in cooperation with the Austrian Spar group, we have already put some of our food products in their stores, and this is a concrete result of the cooperation. Naturally, we plan to enable even greater and better product sale in Austria for our food industry producers’, said Filipović.

As he emphasized, the Representative Office is also working intensively on presenting wood industry products of the Republic of Srpska, all with the aim of better sale of domestic products at the Austrian market.
