Mladen Filipović was re-elected as president of the Alliance of Serbs in Austria at the Electoral Assembly attended by a large number of Serbs from all over Austria.

Filipović said that the Alliance of Serbs in Austria would continue to act in harmony, preserving Serbian tradition, culture and identity.

– Our strength lies in unity. We will work to strengthen ties within the Serbian community, as well as institutional cooperation both in Austria and in Serbia and Republic of Srpska – said Filipović.

The Electoral Assembly held last weekend stated the Alliance’s continued commitment to preserving cultural heritage and national identity, as well as solidarity among Serbs regardless of where they live.

A new statute of the Alliance was also adopted, providing for better regional cooperation and greater involvement of all communities in joint projects and activities.

After the dismissal of the previous Board of Directors, a new leadership was elected.

Žiko Petrović was appointed Vice President of the Alliance, and Dejan Segić was appointed Secretary General, the Alliance of Serbs in Austria announced.

The Alliance of Serbs in Austria celebrated its Slava – the Holy New Martyrs of Jasenovac for the first time in a church in the 12th district of Vienna, with the presence of a large number of Serbs from all over Austria.

The Slava rite was attended by representatives of Serbian communities from Vienna, Upper and Lower Austria, Styria, Tyrol, Salzburg and Vorarlberg.

The godfather of this event was Serbian Ambassador to Austria Marko Blagojević; the liturgy was followed by a central ceremony on the occasion of the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag.
