The ethno-group Trag from Banja Luka performed in Paris, promoting the cultural and musical heritage of the Republic of Srpska and BiH, announced BiH Embassy in France.
The concert was organized by the BiH Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, Ambassador Bojana Kondić Panić.
In UNESCO premises, the audience had the opportunity to enjoy the authentic sounds of traditional Balkan music, which has been preserved and promoted by the ensemble for more than two decades.
Special focus was on the cultural heritage recognized on the UNESCO List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity – the traditional urban folk song Sevdalinka, inscribed on 4 December last year, and Zmijanje embroidery, an ancient art of embroidery from the Krajina region, whose motifs decorated the ensemble’s costumes.
On behalf of UNESCO, the audience were welcomed by Fumiko Ohinata, Secretary of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Panić emphasized the importance of culture as a bridge between peoples and thanked the Ministry of Civil Affairs in the Council of Ministers and the Government of the Republic of Srpska for their support in organizing this event.
This concert highlighted once more the beauty and richness of the musical and cultural tradition of the Balkans, evoking the universal value of art, reads the statement.
