The Head of the Republic of Srpska Representative Office in Serbia, Mlađen Cicović, said that Serbia and Srpska needed not always have identical views of events in the world, but that they should have the same views and the same solutions with regard to defending their identity and the entire Serbian people.

At the panel discussion Serbs in the Whirlwind of the New World, organized in Belgrade by the Serbian Educational and Cultural Society Prosvjeta, with the support of the Representation, Cicović said that the Serbian people had to be united and collected and respond with dignity to every attack at all times.

He noted that continuous attacks on the pillars of the identity of the Serbian people – language and alphabet, religion, culture, tradition, Christian morality – were rarely frontal, and mainly happened through behind-the-scenes actions, cute and appealing small changes in everyday life.

However, he added, in this turbulent time, that manner has grown into highly visible attacks on Serbian identity, which are becoming more and more obvious.

‘That is why I deem it important that by defending the identity, of which Kosovo and Metohija are symbol, we strengthen and increase the identity strength of each of us and all of us in every way – through sobornost, self-confidence, self-respect, unquestionable love for the kin, the people and the state’, said Cicović.

He emphasized that only a man who believed in himself and his people, his church and tradition, who used and defended his script and his language from others’ harmful influences, could be a confident and conscious fighter for the freedom of his people and his country.

‘Therefore, we must be united and collected at all times and respond with dignity to every attack’, said Cicović.

He hopes that the Serbs, both as a people and as their states, will win all their battles by political means.

‘I believe that every conversation about Srpska, Serbia and Serbs can contribute in its own way to better respond to Serbian issues in the times that are unfavorable to us’, Cicović said.

This gathering is a contribution to the search for the right answers to the most important questions of the time when America /with its Western European satellites/ is attempting to remain the only power, and Russia is seeking and, according to Cicović, finding the ways to seriously bring that unipolarity into question and even into a state which inevitably leads to a slow slipping into the past.

‘If the Serbs are not, and they are not, capable of changing the world or at least a major event in it, they should be capable of extracting every detail, even the smallest, that could be of use to us from what is happening in the world’, added Cicović.

In addition to Cicović, a senator of the Republic of Srpska, sociologist Milimir Mučibabić, sociologist Slobodan Antonić, and historian Aleksandar Raković also took part in the gathering.

In announcing the event, the organizer points out that the world is going through a fundamental change in geopolitical relations and America wants to keep its monopoly at all costs, while Russia openly shows the world that the time of unipolarity is over forever.

During the discussion, the participants in the gathering offered answers to the questions of how the world of the future will be established, what are the consequences of all this for the Serbian nation, can the 21st century be the century of Serbian integration and merging, bridging of all imposed divisions.
