The International Children’s Folklore Festival Licider Heart is important because it unites Serbia and the Republic of Srpska, and also connects Serbian children with their peers coming to the event from different countries of the world, said today in Belgrade the Head of the Republic of Srpska Representative Office in Serbia, Mlađen Cicović.
At a press conference at the Tourism Organization of Serbia dedicated to the Licider Heart International Folklore Festival, which will take place from 15 to 19 August, Cicović stated that, along with Užice and Zlatibor, one of the hosts of the festival would be Višegrad, receiving young folklorists from numerous countries, as well as children from Srpska, on 17 August.
Cicović noted that the Representation of the Republic of Srpska in Serbia had been supporting the Licider Heart for years, which is celebrating its 18th anniversary this year and is held under the slogan Coming of Age of the Heart.
- We support this festival because we believe that investing in children, in their knowledge of their own culture and tradition, and in their mutual connections is an investment in the future - Cicović said.
He invited the media and all interested parties to be part of this year’s festival, and especially to come to Višegrad on 17 August, where one of the central festival programs would be held.
On behalf of the people of Višegrad, the Head of the Municipal Department for Economy and Social Activities, Jovanka Knežević, also extended invitation to the guests saying that it was a great honor for Višegrad to host this exceptional event again this year.
She stated that Višegrad had a lot to offer guests, starting with the most recognizable symbols of Andrićgrad, the Drina River and the Višegrad Bridge, adding that the people of Višegrad would do everything to make every visitor to the event feel welcome.
The 18th Licider Heart International Children’s Folklore Festival will be held from 15 to 19 August in Užice, Zlatibor and Višegrad, and bring together around 1,200 children from 14 countries.
Cultural and artistic societies from the Republic of Srpska - Soko from Višegrad, Most from Bratunac and Alat from Trebinje - will also perform at the festival.
Festival organizer is the Era Citizens’ Association from Užice, and the co-organizers are Užice City Administration, Republic of Srpska Representation in Serbia and Čajetina Municipal Administration.
The program in Višegrad will begin on 17 August at 17:30 with a ceremonial reception for the ensemble representatives, and will continue with a ceremonial parade and festival concert at the stadium in Andrićgrad, which is scheduled for 19:00.
