Man of God, the film directed by Yelena Popović is coming to cinemas all over Europe at the beginning of September. The biographical drama about Saint Nectarios of Aegina will be screened in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Norway, Sweden, Belgium, Luxembourg and Great Britain from 3 September through the distributor Helse Kulturverein.

The film that leaves no one indifferent is a story of charity, faith, true kindness and hope. In 109 minutes, cinematic language depicts one of the greatest Greek saints, Nectarios of Aegina, whose life was marked by great injustices, persecutions and accusations by the then leaders of the Greek Orthodox Church and the Patriarchate of Alexandria.

He was a priest of the common people, his humility irritated the subordinate circle of the clergy. He was slandered, excommunicated and exiled. Despite this, the parishioners loved him, and faith in God was his best defense throughout his life.

Unlike his superiors, Nectarios cared for the poor, taught the villagers to read and write, inspired by the examples of young men who had entered the priesthood, he wrote books and gave sermons that strengthened the faith of the people.

Saint Nectarios founded a monastery on Aegina, a barren and deserted island, which is still a beacon for pilgrims today.

He used even the last moments of his life to help others: on his deathbed, he had given his undershirt to a paralyzed man in his hospital bed, after which the man got up and walked.

The film will be shown in English with a German/French/Serbian translation depending on the language of the country of showing.
