A delegation from the Representative Office of the Republic of Srpska in Serbia, led by the Head of the Representation Mlađen Cicović, will visit the Municipality of Obrenovac on 23 April 2026, officially launching this year’s campaign of donating books to libraries in Serbia under the title Culture Connects Us, Books Unite Us.

A meeting with the President of the Municipality Miloš Peković will take place in the Obrenovac City Hall, starting at 9:00hrs. The discussion will focus on improving and encouraging cooperation with cities and municipalities from the Republic of Srpska, as well as strengthening overall relations between the Republic of Srpska and Serbia.

After the meeting, at 10:00hrs, the delegation will attend a ceremony at the Sports and Cultural Center and start of the second stage of the Belgrade-Banja Luka bicycle race traveling from Obrenovac to Zvornik, with a checkpoint in Šabac and a non-stop crossing of the Pavlović Bridge. This race has been supported by the Representation from its inception, and this year it has set off in Belgrade on 22 April.

Continuing the visit, as part of the Culture Connects Us, Books Unite Us campaign, the delegation will visit the Vlada Aksentijević library, where the director, Marija Bogićević Nikolić, will be presented with around 300 books by authors from the Republic of Srpska.

This campaign is a continuation of the Representation’s long-standing practice of donating books to libraries in Serbia, mostly published by the University, the Academy of Sciences and Arts of the Republic of Srpska, and other cultural institutions and authors from the Republic of Srpska. The goal is to enrich the book collections of libraries and further strengthen cultural ties between the Republic of Srpska and Serbia. So far, the Representation has donated more than 10,000 books to over 20 libraries across Serbia, and the campaign will continue in other cities and municipalities during April and May.
