A delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, led by the President of the National Assembly, Dr. Nenad Stevandić, met yesterday in Budapest with Andrija Rockov, Deputy President of the Self-Government of Serbs in Hungary.
President Stevandić said that the visit to the Self-Government of Serbs had become a tradition. ‘We are here to state that relations between Serbs and Hungarians are at an all-time high, that they are living their best days. For that we are grateful to Prime Minister Orbán and Speaker of the Parliament Mr. Kövér. Now the goal is for the Serb Self-Government to visit our National Assembly, and that was the reason for today’s visit. I am honored that we will have the opportunity to host them and to formalize all our ties, which are cultural, educational, historical, but also ties for the future, for business, economic cooperation and progress,’ said Stevandić. The Self-Government of Serbs in Hungary is the umbrella organization of Serbs in that country.
The National Assembly delegation led by President Nenad Stevandić visited the Nikola Tesla Serbian Gymnasium in Budapest yesterday and donated books on that occasion. – We introduced this tradition a few years ago in cooperation with our Textbook Institute. We have established permanent cooperation with the Serbian Gymnasium, and here we have also an elementary school and a kindergarten. This is a place where the tradition of our language is preserved and the best place for which we are grateful to Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and all officials of Hungary. This is an example of great cooperation between Hungarians and Serbs and we are proud that the Republic of Srpska can also show its breadth and visit the children attending school here, but also that we cherish the Serbian tradition in every place we visit – said Stevandić.
Vesna Rac-Petin, director of the Nikola Tesla Serbian Gymnasium in Budapest, thanked the delegation of Srpska’s National Assembly for the visit. – We are glad that you came to visit us and I am looking forward to a successful cooperation. Thank you for the donated books, they will mean a lot to us because they include mandatory readings – stated Rac-Petin.
