The Austrian Pension Insurance Agency has announced that pensioners residing in the Republic of Srpska and BiH must continue to submit officially certified life certificates also in 2026 in order to receive their Austrian pensions.

On 29 October 2024, Austria and BiH concluded a bilateral agreement on secure electronic exchange of pension amounts and death data in the field of pension insurance. This bilateral agreement will simplify and accelerate the process of determining pension amounts and receiving pension payments.

The technical and practical implementation of the electronic data exchange will take place in 2026.

The Austrian Pension Insurance Agency announced that from 2027, pensioners residing in the Republic of Srpska and BiH would no longer be required to submit official certificates of life in order to exercise their right to Austrian pension.
