Screening of Guardian of Honor and Pride, the film by the Consul General of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Stuttgart, Vera Sajić, dedicated to the famous Đorđe Mihailović, the guardian of the Serbian military cemetery in Thessaloniki, was organized in Frankfurt am Main, at the Church of the Resurrection of Christ, by SECS Prosvjeta Germany and Sedmica Writers’ Association.

As the author of the film, Vera Sajić, said: ‘The event provided an opportunity to connect with our community, engage in discussion and share important stories from our history, culture and tradition, all while raising awareness among the public, especially young people and children, about an important chapter in Serbian history that we can take pride in.

‘Few people were familiar with the story of Grandpa Đorđe, which motivated me to make this film during his lifetime. It is an extraordinary and unique story about a family that maintained the Serbian cemetery for three generations. Đorđe’s grandfather founded the cemetery and, together with his comrades, began burying Serbian soldiers. His son and grandson have continued this legacy, ensuring that the cemetery is cared for, maintained and hospitable to visitors,’ explained Sajić.

The idea is to screen this film in as many associations as possible in the coming period, so that representatives of the Serbian diaspora, especially young people, can also learn about the life, love, honor, and incredible love for all fallen soldiers, but also for Serbia, of the great uncle Đorđe Mihailović.

The film Guardian of Honor and Pride was financed by the Republic of Srpska Representative Office in Greece, with the support of the Ministry of European Integration and International Cooperation and the Office of the President of the Republic of Srpska.
