The Minister without portfolio in charge of monitoring the situation, proposing measures and participating in the coordination of activities in the field of relations between the Republic of Serbia and the diaspora, Đorđe Milićević, officially opened the event Let’s Connect Through Knowledge at the Serbian Supplementary School in Rotterdam, the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

The event brought together a large number of students, parents and Serbian community representatives in the Netherlands, whose work, effort and love testify to the strength of the Serbian spirit and the importance of preserving language, culture and identity, regardless of the distance from the homeland.

Milićević expressed his satisfaction that our children who live in this part of Europe proudly speak the Serbian language, sing, recite and learn about their roots through play, adding that their love for Serbia and deep awareness of belonging to the Serbian people are clearly visible.

The Minister expressed special gratitude to teacher Andrijana Breedveld, who has been working with children at the above school for many years with great dedication and enthusiasm.

During his stay in Rotterdam, the Minister also visited the Church of the Holy Trinity, the spiritual center of the Serbian community in the Netherlands, where he met with Archpriest Boris Topić.

Speaking with the clergy and believers, Milićević noted the importance of preserving spirituality and faith as the strongest ties that connect Serbs around the world.

The church is the most important guardian of our identity, it is not only a place of prayer, but also the foundation of unity, the spiritual support and the strongest connection of our people with their roots and homeland, said the Minister.

He added that the policy of the Serbian Government was aimed at strengthening relations with compatriots in the diaspora, especially through education, culture and spiritual values.

The state will continue to invest in preserving national identity among young people in the diaspora, who are the best ambassadors of Serbia and the guarantor of the lasting spiritual and cultural unity of the Serbian people, said Milićević.
