On 28 February at 17.00, in the Old Palace, Belgrade City Assembly, main entrance, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Republic of Srpska, the Representative Office of the Republic of Srpska in Serbia organizes a thematic public discussion on ‘30 years since the adoption of the first Constitution of the Republic of Srpska: fighting the evil spirit of the abolition of the Republic of Srpska with the letter of the Constitution’. This year’s jubilee celebration of 28 February – the day of the proclamation of the first Constitution of the Republic of Srpska, as well as the Day of the Republic of Srpska – will begin with addresses by the officials of the Republic of Srpska and Serbia: Republic of Srpska President, Želјka Cvijanović, BiH Presidency Serb Member, Milorad Dodik, presidents of the national assemblies of the Republic of Serbia and Republic of Srpska, Ivica Dačić and Nedelјko Čubrilović, and head of the Republic of Srpska Representation in Serbia, Mlađen Cicović, and we expect also other distinguished invitees and guests from the Republic of Srpska, Serbia and the region. Speakers at the discussion will be: prof. Dr Darko Tanasković, prof. Dr Radomir V. Lukić, Živadin Jovanović, prof. Dr Nenad Kecmanović, Siniša Ljepojević, prof. Dr Predrag Ćeranić, Aleksandar Pavić, doc. Dr Željko Budmir, prof. Dr. Srđan Perišić, and Đuro Bilbija.

Our jubilee marking occasioned also the preparation of a documentary TV show ‘My Republic is great in heart’, to be broadcast on the same day, 28 February, on Radio Television of the Republic of Srpska, Radio Television of Serbia, and more than 30 regional and local television stations in Serbia. With this show, the Republic of Srpska Representation in Serbia wants to remind our public of the circumstances of writing and adopting the first Republic of Srpska Constitution. Through the statements of our interlocutors, which include the authors of The History of the Republic of Srpska, we will tell the story of our Constitution, the story of the essence of the struggle of the Serb people in Bosnia and Herzegovina for the freedom they have enjoyed for thirty years in their country, our Republic of Srpska!

The book The Republic of Srpska – a state under the Dayton Agreement was also prepared on this occasion, and will be presented to the participants and guests of the discussion. The book presents gradually and analytically the efforts of the people and leadership of the Republic of Srpska to base on the law and the truth their path and method of returning the competencies that were fraudulently taken away from the Republic of Srpska and stripped by unconstitutional laws and decrees; which would save also Bosnia and Herzegovina as founded on the Dayton Agreement, rather than on the current mood and political force strayed from earlier times into today’s multipolar world.

Since 2015, the Republic of Srpska Representation in Serbia has been solemnly marking 28 February – the day of proclamation of the first Constitution of the Republic of Srpska (1992), and Day of the Republic of Srpska. In previous years, a solemn reception was organized on that date in the Assembly of the City of Belgrade, which was attended by the highest officials and representatives of the institutions of the Republic of Srpska and Serbia and other distinguished guests. Due to the unfavorable epidemiological situation, there will be no traditional solemn reception in Belgrade this year, but in this, we believe an appropriate manner, with fewer guests, we will mark our jubilee – 30th anniversary of the Republic of Srpska – solemnly and with dignity.
