On the occasion of the International Mother Language Day, celebrated today, the Director of the Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, Arnaud Gouillon, invites the Serbs scattered around the world to preserve their identity by speaking Serbian with their children and enrolling them in supplementary Serbian language schools. During the past year, the Administration was particularly involved in their opening and operation.
‘I made a video describing the stages I went through when I started learning Serbian as a Frenchman, 15 years ago. Today, I can say that Serbian is also my mother tongue, although it was not at all easy for me at the beginning. Therefore, I invite you, especially the second and third generation Serbs in the diaspora, to learn and preserve your mother tongue and script, because if I mastered it, without Serbian ancestors, I am certain that you can too!’ says Gouillon.
