The President of the Republic of Srpska, Želјka Cvijanović, said that it was always nice to see people gathered around common values, traditions and culture, and emphasized that the small but harmonious Serbian community in Hungary could serve as a shining example.
In her address at the beginning of the KUD Taban concert at the Mom Cultural Center in Budapest, President Cvijanović expressed satisfaction for being in a pleasant and friendly atmosphere that night, at the concert of this cultural artistic society, which nurtured Serbian folklore in Hungary, preserved Serbian tradition and national identity.
– Many of our people have passed through the Taban ensemble since its beginning in 1994 until today, primarily young people, who learned about the motherland, the land of their ancestors, through dance and song, and connected with it permanently and inseparably – said the President of Srpska.
She noted that Budapest best reflected the importance of well-organized national institutions in the process of preserving the identity of a nation.
– Today, I had the opportunity to visit the Serbian school and see for myself the commitment and dedication of the management and teaching staff of this educational institution, which is attended by 20 students from the Republic of Srpska. An inevitably important role in the process of our national gathering is played by the Serbian Orthodox Church, under whose safe wing our compatriots gather here, as well as in all other climates around the planet – noted the President of Srpska.
She pointed out that the Serbs living here represented a bridge of understanding and good cooperation between Hungary on the one hand, and Serbia and Republic of Srpska on the other.
– I want to emphasize that the relations between Hungary and Srpska are very good and that there is a mutual commitment to further improvement. This, among other things, is evidenced by our visits to this country, which are becoming more intensive, and I believe there will be even more of them in the coming period – said the President of Srpska, who is on a two-day official visit to Hungary.
She stated that at the same time she wanted the cooperation of Serbian institutions and associations in Hungary with the Republic of Srpska to be even stronger.
– I want you to know that you can always rely on us and our institutions and count on our fraternal support. I invite you to visit the Republic of Srpska, get to know its beauties and sights, as well as the people who will welcome you warmly, the way dear guests, friends and brothers are welcomed – the President of the Republic emphasized.
She reiterated her pleasure for having the opportunity to enjoy the performance of the Taban ensemble together with her compatriots tonight.
Today, on the second day of her official visit to Hungary, the President of the Republic visited the Serbian Kindergarten, Elementary School, Gymnasium, Collegium and Library Nikola Tesla in Budapest.
