The largest amateur theater festival in the region, the 64th Festival of Festivals, has started in Trebinje.

During seven days, amateur actors from several cities of the region will perform on the stage of the Cultural Center, and an abundant accompanying program is planned.

On the first evening of the festival, the Bijelo Polje Theater performed the play The Government and Its Opposition. Amateur theaters from Bečej, Kavadarci, Banja Luka, Trstenik, Gračanica and acting ensemble of the Trebinje City Theater presented themselves to the audience and the jury, who will be choosing the best in the end.

The pandemic disrupted also theatrical life, so last year the festival was not held at all, and this year, for the same reason, there were no guest appearances by theaters from some countries of the region. Still, the tradition continues this summer.

Mirko Ćurić, the mayor of Trebinje, points out that the festival is of exceptional importance for the city as well as for the region.

Public discussions, exhibitions, book promotions in the accompanying program of the festival. On the first evening, an exhibition of the Museum of Theatrical Arts of Serbia was opened, dedicated to the theatrical work of the acting legend Olivera Marković.

– Olivera Marković is a legend who was on the boards all her life – points out Želјko Hubač, a playwright.

There are plays every day, and expert jury and audience jury will announce this year’s best and winners in several categories at the end of the festival.
