The 27th Festival of Serbian Folklore of Germany was held in Berlin on 25 March this year. It was held in the capital of the Federal Republic of Germany for the first time in 20 years. About 300 participants from 13 cultural and artistic societies from German territory performed before numerous audience. The festival was opened by the president of the Alliance of Serb Associations in Germany, Saša Ivanović.
Ambassador Dr Snežana Janković addressed the audience, stressing the importance of holding such events for nurturing Serbian tradition and culture and preserving Serbian identity. She thanked all the participants for their dedication to fostering Serbian tradition outside the borders of the fatherland and expressed particular satisfaction with the fact that this year the European Festival of Serbian Folklore would be held in Novi Sad under the auspices of President Aleksandar Vučić.
V. Koturović addressed the guests on behalf of the Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, conveying the greetings of the first deputy prime minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ivica Dačić, and the Director of the Directorate, Arnaud Gouillon. He pointed out that during 2022 the Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region had supported over 20 projects of Serbian cultural and artistic societies in Germany and contributed to preserving the Serbian kolo, language, tradition and Serbian identity. He expressed the hope that cooperation between the motherland and Serbian societies abroad would be successful in the future as well.
The festival was also attended by Munich and Stuttgart consuls general of the Republic of Serbia, Božidar Vučurović and Dragan Dimitrijević.
