The 151st Nevesinje Olympics, one of the oldest events in Europe, which preserves the spirit of chivalry, folk customs and sports competition in Herzegovina, concluded with horse racing at Bratački lug near Nevesinje. 1,550 participants from ten countries took part, competing in 23 sports and 55 sports disciplines and traditional sports.
Fans of traditional games, including professional athletes, recreational athletes, amateurs and children, once again this year showed their strength, agility and sportsmanship. The most successful competitor was Aleksandar Krajišnik from Šabac, who won three gold and two silver medals.
The Nevesinje Olympics are of great importance, not only for Nevesinje and Herzegovina, but also for the entire Srpska.
Savo Minić, Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska, expressed hope that by the end of the year, the application submitted with the UNESCO for inclusion on the list of cultural and world heritage.
The Nevesinje Olympics is growing from year to year, growing in the number of visitors, in the number of participants, in the number of competitors and in the financial fund. The central event of the Olympics is mountain horse races, which attract the greatest attention of visitors, who came from the entire region this year.
