The Government of the Republic of Srpska adopted today the information on introduction of a new unique approach with Serbia to the study of subjects of national importance and the development of textbooks for the subjects: Serbian language and literature, history, geography, nature and society, music culture and visual culture.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of Serbia and the Ministry of Education and Culture of Srpska, as signatories to the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Education of 10 March last year, agreed to cooperate primarily through joint activities on protecting the Serbian language and preserving the Cyrillic alphabet, as well as developing a joint curriculum and textbooks, the Government’s Public Relations Bureau announced.
The line ministries will cooperate also by enabling joint use of all capacities to promote the Serbian language, acting jointly on the preservation and development of the Serbian national linguistic and cultural identity, connecting educational institutions and individuals, as well as providing teaching staff, textbooks and books.
The Ministry of Education and Culture in cooperation with the Institute for Textbooks and Teaching Aids in Istočno Novo Sarajevo, and the relevant Ministry of Serbia are entrusted with ensuring the presence of contents defined by the common core curriculum for subjects of national importance in textbooks for the Republic of Srpska.
The Ministry of Education and Culture of Srpska is instructed to form a working group, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of Serbia, with the aim of introducing a new approach to studying the subjects of national importance with Serbia and developing the textbooks for Serbian language and literature, history, geography, nature and society, music culture and visual culture.
