Last week, Tršić received a visit by another group of students from Serbian supplementary schools around the world, who attend mother tongue classes organized by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Serbia under the auspices of the Institute for the Improvement of Education. From 3 to 9 August, accompanied by their teachers, 107 students from Switzerland, Germany, France, Italy, Slovenia, Great Britain, Norway and Russia visited the Vuk Karadžić Scientific, Educational and Cultural Center. The camp, already well-known as Summer in the Homeland, was more than just a summer gathering – it was a bridge between the Serbian diaspora and the homeland, the past and present, tradition and youth.

Within the Summer in the Homeland project, students acquired new knowledge through daily language, drama, music, folklore and sports workshops, which they presented at the final performance on the last day of their stay. They also visited the birthhouse of Vuk Stefanović Karadžić, Tronoša monastery, Koviljača Spa, and Sunčana Reka ethno village.

The student work program unfolded through thematic and integrative Serbian language workshops and art workshops (folklore, music, acting) designed in cooperation with the Education Improvement Institute. Workshop organizers are experts in the fields of pedagogy, language, folklore, music, drama and sports. Project themes are: We create in the Serbian language, we talk about our homeland; The whole world knows them, Serbia is proud of them; Remember always; I dance, sing, create – I talk about tradition; and My Serbia.
