Yesterday at the celebration of the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag in Munich, the Minister of European Integration and International Cooperation of the Republic of Srpska, Zlatan Klokić, said that this holiday was one of the most important for the Serbian people as a whole, and noted the importance of Serbian unity, because the Serbs had survived Golgotha, but never given up the freedom that they could not live without.

Klokić recalled the timeless verses of the great poet Jovan Jovanović Zmaj ‘Every bird is in its flock, each aspires to its brother’, saying that they best described the Serbs’ desire for unity, but also the strength that this unity could produce.

– By celebrating the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag, be it in Belgrade, Niš, Banja Luka or as it is tonight – in Munich, we should proudly point out our origin, historical victories, but also the difficult moments that our nation has gone through – Klokić said.

He stated it was important for the world to hear that the Serbs had always walked with their heads held high, unified and united no matter how big the evil facing them, and that it was this unity that had given them the strength to heroically fight for freedom under their tricolor.

– I feel proud and pleased that we have succeeded in our mission to gather you in such numbers tonight. As a representative of the Government of the Republic of Srpska, I would like to take the opportunity to thank the minister without portfolio in the Government of Serbia in charge of the diaspora, Đorđe Milićević, who made a great effort jointly with us, to bring us all together. A big thank you also goes to you who are gracing this event with your presence and standing under the same flag together with us – said Klokić.

He noted the importance of unity and harmony of all Serbs for their salvation and survival.

– Let us put all divisions aside. We need unity, especially on important national issues. Let us unite in this divided world which is on the verge of cataclysm and chaos with the wars that are currently being fought. No matter what happens, we have to understand that in the end we are left on our own and that is why we have to save and preserve ourselves, and salvation requires exactly that – the unity of all Serbs – said Klokić.

He pointed out the importance of celebrating the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag, emphasizing that Serbs thus respected their freedom.

– Therefore, Serbian brothers and sisters – stay united, together and unified, wherever you are. Long live Serbia, long live the Republic of Srpska! – said Klokić.

The celebration of the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag in Munich was organized by the office of Minister Milićević, the Ministry of European Integration and International Cooperation of the Republic of Srpska and the Consulate General of Serbia in Munich.

The Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and National Flag, 15 September, is jointly celebrated by Serbia and the Republic of Srpska. This holiday was established in 2020, to commemorate the day of the Salonika Front breakthrough in the First World War.
