Karlsruhe recently hosted Games without Borders, organized by the parents’ council of the Serbian supplementary school, teacher Slavica Stupar from the German province of Baden-Württemberg, and supported by the Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia in Stuttgart. Students and parents from Karlsruhe, Baden-Baden, Gaggenau, Rastatt, Bruchsal and Pforzheim gathered under the title We Play, Socialize and Nurture the Serbian Language.

Welcoming those present, teacher Stupar said that the goal of this gathering ‘is to expand acquaintances and strengthen our Serbian community. Serbian language and song will reverberate through this space during these games, which is special for all of us.’

Before the competition started, the students sang the song Negujmo srpski jezik (Let’s nurture the Serbian language), and then the games followed.

The green team – the school from Bruchsal won. The event was supported also by the Consul General of the Republic of Serbia in Stuttgart, Dragan Dimitrijević, who greeted all present.

The teacher Slavica expressed thanks: ‘I would like to thank everyone who took part in holding this gathering: first of all, thanks go to our wonderful children which are the reason we were here, the parents’ council, Consul General Dimitrijević, father Aleksandar Škorić, my colleague Biljana Anđelković, our industrious parents who worked the barbecue: Steva, Nenad and Bogoljub and Milenko, logisticians: Ognjen Kojčinović from SCC, Biljana Škorić, Danijel Tadić, Dejan Mićić, Goran Đurić, the hardworking moms who prepared the buffet, the Krstić family for preparing wonderful cocktails, the parents working on selling and serving food and drinks, to everyone who came earlier and participated in the preparation of the picnic area and the grounds...’

She wished the children a happy upcoming summer holiday with a nice and unforgettable time spent with their relatives in Serbian lands and warmly thanked the parents and children for learning Serbian and preserving the traditions of their people.
