Đorđe Milićević, minister without portfolio in charge of monitoring the situation, proposing measures and coordinating activities in the field of relations between the Republic of Serbia and the diaspora, opened Paris concert by Miloš Radović, a famous Serbian opera singer. The concert was organized by the Dragulji association from Kragujevac in cooperation with the Kraguji association from Paris, with the support of the minister’s office.

Many guests attended, including a delegation from the office of the minister without portfolio in charge of monitoring the situation, proposing measures and taking part in the coordination of activities in the field of relations between the Republic of Serbia and the diaspora, the Consul of the Republic of Serbia in France, the Mayor of Épône, and representatives of numerous associations.

In his speech, the minister emphasized the importance of national symbols and the need to preserve them, noting unity as the key to Serbia’s strength. ‘Serbia has always been as strong as we as a people were united,’ said Milićević and stated the importance of preserving the Serbian alphabet and flag, as pillars of national identity, wherever Serbs were around the world.

Speaking about the role of traditional music, Milićević said: ‘By preserving traditional music, the Serbian people preserve their heritage, maintain their unique identity, and provide young people with the opportunity to feel connection with their origins through music, language, and customs.’

‘Traditional Serbian music deeply connects our people in the diaspora with their homeland. Melodies, words, and rhythms transmit a part of identity that transcends borders. It allows those living far from Serbia to remain connected to their roots and to pass on their cultural heritage to younger generations,’ said the minister.

Traditional music, according to him, allows us to preserve the spirit of our history and heritage.
