A concert at the Children’s Cultural Center in Belgrade marked beginning of the All-Serbian Children’s Assembly. The festival gathers children and youth of Serbian origin from the region and the diaspora with the intention of establishing a permanent connection with the homeland, developing a sense of belonging and connecting with peers from Serbia.

Children of Serbian origin from Slovenia, Croatia, Romania and Germany came to the Assembly wishing to find out more about the life of their peers, but also to learn their mother tongue, nurture Serbian culture and customs.

The song and dance with the hosts revived the story of folk costumes and old crafts at the concert held at the Children’s Cultural Center.

They are interested in how their peers in Serbia spend their free time and what their school is like.

– Mainly, they know basic geographical terms and important personalities. They are interested in how some specific expressions from the languages they speak in the countries where they live are translated into Serbian, and they are also interested in how some words they frequently use are written in Cyrillic – said Ivana Tabori Obradović, event editor.
