The Serbian Days – Month of Serbian Culture in Hungary event will be held from 4 to 24 September 2025. This is a significant event dedicated to presenting and nurturing Serbian culture, tradition and spirituality. It is held with the aim of contributing increasingly year after year to the presentation of Serbian culture in Hungary and enriching the cultural scene in general.
The main organizer of the event is the Serbian Orthodox Eparchy of Buda. The patrons of the event are the Office of the President of the Republic of Srpska and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia.
Many partners and institutions participate in organizing and holding the event – Serbian Church Museum Szentendre, Tekelianum, Serbian Embassy, BiH Embassy, Venac Serbian Cultural Center Budapest, National Theater of the Republic of Srpska, Provincial Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments Petrovaradin, Srpski ekran, Krug Artists’ Association Budapest, and prominent individuals – artists, scientists, cultural workers, and figures from the world of politics.
The Serbian Days usually take place during the month of September or October, with a ceremonial opening at the beginning of the month. This year’s event begins on 4 September and will last until 24 September. The program will be very rich and varied. It will include exhibitions, concerts, performances by various choirs and musical groups, theater plays, film screenings, as well as diverse cultural and artistic programs.
The events will take place at various locations, including Tekelianum and Ethnographic Museum in Budapest, Serbian Church Museum in Szentendre, etc.
According to the organizers, the Serbian Days are of exceptional importance for the preservation of national identity: They are crucial for preserving and nurturing Serbian culture and traditions in the diaspora; promoting Serbian culture – they present the wealth of Serbian spirituality, tradition and contemporary creativity to the general public in Hungary; strengthening ties – they contribute to strengthening ties between Serbs in Hungary, their home countries (Serbia and Republic of Srpska) and Hungary; intercultural dialogue – they enrich the Hungarian cultural scene and promote better understanding and cooperation between different communities.
The event demonstrates commitment to the preservation and development of Serbian culture in Hungary.
The official Serbian Days opening will take place at the Budapest Ethnographic Museum on 4 September, with the participation of numerous performers and in the presence of high-ranking officials from Hungary, Republic of Serbia and Republic of Srpska.
