The humanitarian organization Serbs for Serbs, founded at the initiative of our US diaspora, helps large and socially vulnerable families in the Balkans, and this exceptional result was achieved symbolically in the organization’s twentieth year. Interestingly, it took 17 years to raise the first ten million euros, while the second ten million were collected in just two and a half years.
This money helped more than 3,600 socially vulnerable families throughout the Balkans, which include 17,000 children together, the organization reports.
Owing to a large number of donors from all over the world, many families today live in warm homes, children sleep in new beds, have access to bathrooms, electricity, water and basic living conditions. Roofs no longer leak, and many children have their own room, desk, closet, toys or computer for the first time. Parents are able to ensure a glass of fresh milk for their child, to use tractors and attachments to cultivate the land, and to provide for the family.
In addition to direct support to families, the organization also helps soup kitchens, clinics, maternity hospitals, hospitals, kindergartens, primary and secondary schools and other institutions that take care of the health and education of children on a daily basis.
Two decades of dedicated work testify to the fact that the Serbian people know how and can take care of themselves, help each other and connect. The idea of Serbs for Serbs has become a recognizable, strong and lasting factor in the fight for the survival and better future of the Serbian people.
‘We would like to thank sincerely to all contributors, volunteers, members and friends of the humanitarian organization Serbs for Serbs, whose financial contributions, time, effort and love, have built trust in our joint charitable work for the benefit of our children,’ the organization said.
