Owned by 46-year-old Branko Drljača, the prized plum brandy is a distillate of three plum varieties, including the autochthonous variety of Požegača.
- The blend is composed of five distillates that underwent the aging process in seven barrels made of three different types of wood - Serbian oak, French Limousin oak and mulberry - said Drljača for Srna.
As the UNESCO ambassador for the cultural heritage of the German city of Mannheim, Drljača officially represented the Serbian community on the topic of slava and rakija.
He pointed out that this award was more than a gold medal, because they demonstrated that they had the best drink made from stone fruit in the world for this year.
Branko, born in Ivanjska between Novi Grad and Bosanska Krupa, has been living and working in Germany since 1990, but he planted an orchard on the family estate in his hometown.
Drljača said that they started producing noble distillates in 2010, and would continue to work on brandy distillates.
Branko Drljača is a sommelier of noble distillates, a certified sensory assessor for distillates, a docent at sommelier academy, a designer of Aromabox for sensory exercise, and a member of several commissions for alcoholic beverages evaluation.
