The Minister of European Integration and International Cooperation of the Republic of Srpska, Zlatan Klokić, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Nikola Selaković, signed a Memorandum on Cooperation between the governments of Serbia and Srpska in the field of diplomatic education in Belgrade today.

After signing the Memorandum, Klokić and Selaković explained that this document set the legal framework for the education and training of young and talented people from the Republic of Srpska at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia. Klokić thanked Selaković, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and the Government for supporting Srpska in all fields, as confirmed by the cooperation document signed today.‘ The memorandum means a lot to us, because future diplomats from the Republic of Srpska will have the opportunity to improve their knowledge in order to better represent Srpska in the world. I am certain that in the coming period we will implement numerous projects with Serbia which will help promote Srpska throughout the world,’ Klokić said. He noted that the support of Serbia and its leadership to the Republic of Srpska had never been so complete and so great as in the past seven years. ‘There is no municipality in Srpska in which Serbia has not implemented a project for a better life of citizens of Srpska. I am certain that this support will be notable also in the future,’ Klokić said. Selaković specified that training at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia consisted of nine months of regular lectures, various other activities and taking exams. ‘After that, the students of the academy acquire the ability to perform tasks within the diplomatic profession with a much higher level of seriousness, quality and professionalism,’ Selaković said.

He said that before signing the Memorandum, he had spoken with Klokić about its implementation, which should start in the next academic year. ‘That means that application of the Memorandum would start in about 11 months, and my intention was, if we could, to bring a number of our young colleagues from Srpska to Belgrade and host them at our academy before the end of this year,’ Selaković said. He believes that the Diplomatic Academy will provide these people with an education that cannot be acquired in BiH, i.e. in FBiH or Srpska. ‘We will endeavor to enable our young colleagues to have that education here in Belgrade and to complete the initial training, so that they would be much better prepared for the challenges that diplomacy, as a sophisticated activity, requires of them,’ said the head of Serbian diplomacy.
