Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikola Selaković, said today in Istočno Sarajevo that cooperation between Serbia and the Republic of Srpska went on and that new achievements on many infrastructure projects could soon be presented.

Selaković told journalists that at the meeting with the President of the Republic of Srpska, Želјka Cvijanović, they spoke about the cooperation of Srpska and Serbia with the diaspora, wherever it was.

– There are many fields of our joint cooperation, primarily under the Agreement on Special Parallel Relations, and under the agreements that provide serious advantages and huge benefits to entire Serbia and BiH – said Selaković.

He noted that one of the successful projects was construction of the Bijeljina-Belgrade motorway, that initial contours of the bridge in Sremska Rača could already be seen, and that he was convinced that the route itself of the motorway under construction would be visible soon. – By mid-December, or St. Nicholas Day, I expect us in Serbia to see the finished motorway section that for the time being runs from Belgrade to Preljina, or to Čačak, extended to Požega thus approaching our western border, Užice, Kotroman, Višegrad and route of the future motorway that will continue from there to Sarajevo – Selaković said.

Selaković says that the meeting also discussed joint cooperation on strengthening the Serbian diaspora, and stressed that Serbia was interested in protecting the cultural identity, tradition and identity sentiments and rights of all compatriots, people of Serbian identity, Serbian consciousness outside Serbia, the Republic of Srpska and territory of the former Yugoslavia. Selaković points out that Serbia will act responsibly, providing a range of opportunities to them and their families, as well as to the Serbian Orthodox Church, which is working on the same task.
