The Ministry of Education of the Government of the Republic of Serbia announced yesterday implementation of the Summer in the Homeland project for the fourth consecutive year, under the Ministry’s auspices, intended for students of supplementary Serbian language schools abroad.
This year again, the students will be staying at the Vuk Karadžić Scientific, Educational and Cultural Center in Tršić, free of charge, accompanied by their teachers.
In the first of the three planned cycles, from 6 to 12 July, as many as 90 students from Switzerland, Germany, France, Italy, Slovenia, Greece, Russia, America and Norway will be visiting.
Student work program is taking place through artistic and thematic and integrative Serbian language workshops, designed in cooperation with the Institute for the Improvement of Education.
The students’ stay in Tršić also includes craft workshops, trips and daily sports activities. Workshop organizers are experts in the fields of pedagogy, language, folklore, music, drama and sports.
Project themes are: We create in the Serbian language, we talk about our homeland; The whole world knows them, Serbia is proud of them; Remember always; I dance, sing, create – I talk about tradition; and My Serbia.
As part of the program, the students will visit the birthhouse of Vuk Stefanović Karadžić, Tronoša monastery and Koviljača Spa.
Through daily language, drama, music, folklore and sports workshops, they will build new knowledge that they will demonstrate at the final ceremony on the last day of their stay.
