The Republic of Srpska Representative Office in Austria organized a ceremonial reception in Vienna last evening on the occasion of 28 February – the Day of promulgation of the first Constitution of the Republic of Srpska.

In addition to representatives of the institutions of the Republic of Srpska and Serbia, it brought together many distinguished guests, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church, and leadership of Serbian clubs and associations in Austria.

Among others, the ceremony was attended by H.E. Dmitry Polyansky, Ambassador of the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the OSCE, H.E. Marko Blagojević, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Republic of Austria, H.E. Žarko Obradović, Ambassador of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Serbia to the OSCE and International Organizations, H.E. Siniša Bencun, Ambassador of BiH to the Republic of Austria, Bishop Alexy of the Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate in Vienna and Austria, representative of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Austria, representative of the Ambassador of the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to international organizations, and representatives of the embassies of Hungary and Belarus.

Addressing the attendees, the Head of the Representation of the Republic of Srpska in Austria, Mladen Filipović, noted the historical significance of the adoption of the first Constitution of the Republic of Srpska, and emphasized that it was a great honor that Vienna had been marking this date for years, which is one of the most important for the Serbian people in BiH and the region.

‘It is important that we cherish the ideas of dialogue and unity, and that through such gatherings we provide support to the institutions of the Republic of Srpska,’ said Filipović.

Filipović said that the Representation remained committed to strengthening institutional, economic and cultural ties with Austria.

‘Cooperation is our shared goal. Support on this path comes from our institutions and our international partners, as well as our diaspora, which is actively working on cooperation in various areas,’ stated Filipović.

During the reception, the Serbian Academic Ensemble performed several classical Serbian and Austrian compositions, as well as several traditional songs.
