The President of the Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik met last evening in Budapest with His Eminence Metropolitan Lukijan of Buda on the eve of the event Serbian Days – Month of Serbian Culture in Hungary.
His Eminence Metropolitan Lukijan of Buda said that the Serbian Days – Month of Serbian Culture in Hungary event would not have happened without the President of the Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik and Srpska and that this event might be said to be all-Serbian.
– This is a good opportunity to meet; thanks to the initiative of the Republic of Srpska and President Dodik, we can show what is most beautiful about our culture – said Metropolitan Lukijan.
The President of the Republic of Srpska, Milorad Dodik, attended the event Serbian Days – Month of Serbian Culture in Hungary, which opened last evening at the Budapest Ethnographic Museum.
The aim of the event, which is attended by both Hungarian and Serbian officials, including the newly appointed Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Srpska, Željko Budimir, is to present, preserve and develop Serbian culture in Hungary, and to enrich the cultural scene in general.
The Serbian national community in Hungary has left a significant mark on culture, science and everything that represents the essence of a community, said the President of the Republic of Srpska, Milorad Dodik.
– It is my pleasure to be the patron for the third year in a row of the Serbian Days – Month of Serbian Culture in Hungary event, which celebrates the existence of the Serbian national community that came to these areas at the end of the 17th century – said the President of Srpska.
Dodik said that the Serbian people in Hungary had survived at different times and had been exposed to various dangers of extinction, but that with the arrival of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and his team and the new Hungarian policy, the Serbian national community had been affirmed and supported.
– I am grateful to the Hungarian state for everything it is doing to affirm the identity of our people here. That was the initial catalyst for the very good relations between Hungary and Serbia and the Republic of Srpska, and today I can say that these relations are at the highest possible level thanks to Orbán and the policies he is leading – said Dodik.
The President of the Republic of Srpska, Milorad Dodik, said this evening that important projects in the Balkans today were linked to the cooperation of Hungary, Serbia and Republic of Srpska and that he remained committed to further improving relations with Hungary and other countries that want peace and stability.
Last evening’s performance of the String Orchestra of the National Theatre of the Republic of Srpska in Budapest concluded the ceremonial part of the opening of the event Serbian Days – Month of Serbian Culture in Hungary.
