Minister without portfolio in the Government of the Republic of Serbia in charge of coordinating activities and measures in the field of relations between the Republic of Serbia and the diaspora, Đorđe Milićević, visited Vicenza yesterday at the invitation of the Association of Serbs in Italy and met with Serbian community representatives in this part of Italy.
On the Intercession of the Theotokos, Milićević attended the liturgy in the Church of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist Luke, after which, accompanied by the priest Dalibor Đukić and leaders of the Association of Serbs in Italy, Lidija Radovanović and Dušan Aleksić, he visited the construction site of the new Parish Centre and the future Serbian Orthodox Church temple in Vicenza.
Serbs in Italy had collected contributions and bought the land for the construction of these religious buildings, and the future magnificent SOC complex in Vicenza is the first in this part of Europe to be registered to the Serbian church.
The Minister also attended the sports and entertainment event Serbian Unity Assembly in the town of Torri di Quartesolo, where more than a thousand of our compatriots participated.
He also had a working meeting with representatives of all Serbian associations in Italy, where he appealed for unity among our people wherever they lived.
He said that Serbian associations in Italy and around the world had absolute support in all their activities aimed at preserving the national identity, the Serbian language and alphabet, culture and tradition.
