The minister without portfolio in charge of coordinating activities and measures in the field of relations with the diaspora, Đorđe Milićević, and the mayor of Kruševac, Ivan Manojlović, opened the Days of the Diaspora in the Medieval Capital of Serbia event in Kruševac yesterday.

At the event that brought together 130 young members of Serbian cultural and artistic societies from five countries, Milićević expressed his gratitude to the youth for preserving the Serbian language, culture and traditions in the countries where they live.

The minister said he was proud of the fact that the event in Kruševac was part of a wider project of themed summer camps held throughout Serbia this summer, bringing together around 5,000 Serbian children from the diaspora.

He noted that the camps provided a unique opportunity for our children, regardless of where they were growing up, to learn about Serbian culture, tradition, language and art, and a unique way to build bridges that unite us as a people and make us a united and inseparable community.

Representatives of the cultural and artistic societies expressed their gratitude to the minister for the support he provided in preserving the Serbian identity in the diaspora and emphasized the importance of organizing the youth summer camps, stating that there was a growing interest among children in the diaspora to come to Serbia and participate in these camps.
