Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad, Ivana Živančević Sekeruš, and Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy in Ljubljana, Mojca Schlamberger Brezer, signed a cooperation agreement establishing the Serbian Language Lectorate in Ljubljana, announced the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This is the first time such a lectorate opens in Slovenia.

The signing of the agreement was preceded by lengthy negotiations.

According to the agreement on the establishment of the Lectorate, the Serbian side will select and the Slovenian side will approve the lector, without further election processes at the Philology Faculty in Ljubljana.

The Serbian side will finance the lector completely, while the Slovenian side will provide the lector with an appropriate teaching load, working conditions, and promote new study subjects that include Serbian language and literature.

The status of the lector will be aligned with the Slovenian and European legislation on work of foreigners. Their status will be that of a worker posted abroad to the Philosophy Faculty, University of Ljubljana.

The Serbian Language Lectorate is established for four years, after which the contracting parties may renew the contract.
