On the occasion of Sretenje, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić awarded the Order of Karađorđe Star third degree to the Representative Office of the Republic of Srpska in Austria for the affirmation of Serbian identity in Austria, and awarded the same order also to the Herzegovina Museum Trebinje.

The activities of the Republic of Srpska’s Representation have been recognized and acknowledged at a time when we need to be united and stand side by side on Sretenje.

– Without sobornost, we will certainly not be able to achieve what we have achieved in Austria and the diaspora, and looking at future activities and in reference to indicating our tradition and culture, all activities will be within the framework of Drina not dividing us because it is the backbone that should be unique for the Serbian people, and in Austria that is utterly recognized – said Mladen Filipović, Head of the Representative Office of the Republic of Srpska in Austria and President of the Alliance of Serbs in Austria.

He stated this to be a historical event symbolizing unity of the Serbian people and sending a joint message of sobornost in preserving national identity.

The Herzegovina Museum Trebinje, one of the oldest cultural institutions in East Herzegovina with an impressive number of exhibits, was decorated for special merits in the field of culture and museum art.

The order was received by the Director Ivana Grujić.

– The area of East Herzegovina inherited what belongs to the Serbian people, that is, to the identity of the Serbian people. That is not only cultural and historical heritage, but also many cultural monuments. As a reminder, the oldest statehood is that of Travunia and speaking about our Saint Sava, we must still go back to Herzegovina and those littoral areas and Herzegovina – said Grujić.

The Union of Krajina Associations, an organization dealing with preserving the tradition, identity, customs and culture of Serbs from Bosanska Krajina, was decorated for special merits in preserving the tradition, customs and culture of the Serbian people.

The medal was received by the President Ranka Srdić Milić.

On the occasion of Sretenje – Serbian Statehood Day, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić presented 87 decorations to deserving individuals and institutions for their contribution to society.
