The National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska adopted the Law on the Protection, Preservation and Use of the Language of the Serbian People and Cyrillic Script, in urgent procedure.

This Law regulates the system of protection, preservation and manner of using the language of the Serbian people and Cyrillic script in the Republic of Srpska, as intangible cultural heritage.

At a special session of the National Assembly, 70 deputies voted in favor of the Law, two were against, and there were no abstentions.

The Assembly of Serbia also adopted the Law on the Use of the Serbian Language in Public Life and the Protection and Preservation of the Cyrillic Alphabet. Serbia and Republic of Srpska are marking the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and National Flag.

The governments of Srpska and Serbia have decided to celebrate together 15 September, the day the Salonika Front was broken through 103 years ago in the First World War.
