The oldest club in Austria, Jedinstvo Vienna celebrated 55 years of work. The celebration program brought together members, friends and numerous guests who graced the celebration with their presence and recalled together the rich tradition and success of the society.
The celebration began with an apposite address by the host and a reminder that Jedinstvo had never been just a cultural society, but also a place where generations had found unity, friendship and love for folklore and tradition.
During the evening, in addition to the hosts Jedinstvo CAS, folklore performances by friends took the stage including Dukat CAS from Traiskirchen, Bora Stanković CAS from Vienna, Semberija i Majevica CAS from Pressbaum, Bambi CSS from Vienna, and Jovan Jovanović Zmaj CAS from Sollenau.
All performers were accompanied by Momir Marijoković’s orchestra.
As part of the ceremony, plaques were awarded to deserving individuals and institutions, both from Austria and the motherland, for their contribution to the society’s work and development. Plaque recipients were long-time president Zlatko Miloradović, Petar Nešić, director of the Vienna’s 2nd district Leopoldstadt, Nemanja Joksimović, president of the Austrian Association of Serbian Folklore Aleksandar Saša Stanković, Jasmina Stojković, Vladan Đorđević, and Milivoje Janković.
‘This anniversary was not only a reminder of the past, but also an obligation for the future – to continue on the path of love and unity. Because what makes us great is not only the years, but the people. The people among us. The people who are Jedinstvo – is the message of the anniversary celebration,’ said the president of Jedinstvo Jagoda Dekić.
On behalf of the Association, the President of the Austrian Serbian Folklore Association Stanković presented Jedinstvo with an honorary plaque on the occasion of its anniversary, in recognition of its immeasurable contribution to the preservation of the cultural, artistic and folklore heritage of the Serbian people in the diaspora. Also, the president of the society, Jagoda Dekić, was presented with a certificate of appreciation for her many years of work and contribution to the promotion of Serbian culture in Austria.
