The minister without portfolio in the Government of the Republic of Serbia in charge of coordinating activities and measures in the field of relations with the diaspora, Đorđe Milićević, visited the Kad zaigra srpsko srce (When Serbian heart leaps up) themed summer camp for youth from the region and the diaspora, taking place from 15 to 20 July in Osečina. Young members of Serbian cultural and artistic societies from several countries walked through the center of Osečina in their costumes and danced a medley of folk kolos and dances.
Milićević said that the camp name reflected perfectly the essence of the state’s goal, which is to awaken and strengthen love for our culture, tradition and country.
The minister without portfolio in the Government of the Republic of Serbia in charge of coordinating activities and measures in the field of relations with the diaspora, Đorđe Milićević, opened the Deca Srbije (Children of Serbia) sports camp at the Požarevac Sports Center pool, which has gathered more than 150 children of Serbian origin from Austria, Germany, Switzerland, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Republic of Srpska, with children from Kosovo and Metohija as their hosts. The project manager is the celebrated water polo player Nikola Rađen, whose team of 11 instructors runs a swimming school for the little ones participating in the camp.
The minister said that the Government of the Republic of Serbia had invested 120 million dinars in organizing the themed summer camps for youth from the region and the diaspora held throughout Serbia. In front of the Academy of Talents, Rađen presented plaques for contribution and huge support to Minister Milićević and Mayor Pavlović.
Wherever you live, remember, children, you belong to one people. To a proud people that does not bow to pressure and blackmail and that has always fought bravely for its freedom, its state and its better future. We decided to invest that money to ensure that all of you participating in them have the best conditions for training, socializing and learning, and these camps are more than themed activities because they are an opportunity to connect with their roots, improve the knowledge of their mother tongue and Cyrillic script, and to become acquainted with our rich history and culture, said Milićević.
