On 24 and 25 May 2025, the May Meetings of Diaspora Writers celebrated its seventh anniversary in Stuttgart, bringing together Serbian literary creators and lovers of the written word from different parts of Europe. This significant cultural event was an opportunity to present new literary works, exchange experiences, and foster the Serbian language and culture in the diaspora.

The first day of the meetings, 24 May, was dedicated to the promotion of the book To Love in Belgrade by Serbian actress Iva Štrljić, which was held at the Consulate General of Serbia in Stuttgart. Iva Štrljić’s visit was organized with the support of the Serbian Consulate General in Stuttgart; and significant role in holding of this event was played by the Sveti Sava Center for Serbs in the Diaspora from Belgrade.

The second day of the meetings, 25 May, was dedicated to an open discussion on the position of Serbian literature in the diaspora, and potential for joint projects and better networking of associations. A special part of the program was participants’ poetry and prose presentation where they presented their latest works. One of the highlights of the meetings was the presentation of the electronic library of the Serbian diaspora discussed by Aleksandar Saša Jovanović, president of the Sedmica Writers’ Association from Frankfurt. This library is a digital platform for the preservation and promotion of Serbian literature in the diaspora, including works by authors from the diaspora and publications on Serbian culture around the world. The organizers invited all authors, publishers and researchers to join this project, noting its importance in preserving Serbian identity.

The program was enriched by Milka Kajganić, president of the Zlatno pero association from Switzerland, who presented the documentary 33 Angels. The meetings were complemented by musical performances by young talents under the guidance of singing teacher Ana Stevanović. Association member Nikolče Sikijovski presented his artistic works for the first time, announcing his first solo exhibition in the city of Pforzheim. This year’s meetings brought together representatives of the Sedmica writers’ association from Frankfurt, Zlatno pero from Switzerland, the Bavarian-Serbian Academic Forum from Munich, Biseri poezije from Stuttgart, and Zdravko Đekić from Waiblingen. The hosts, members of the SECS Prosvjeta Germany based in Stuttgart, gave the guests a warm welcome and participated actively in the program.
